Lawn Maintenance - Why is my lawn so dry?

 The following was published in the September 2006 newsletter.

Many calls are being received by our management office concerning the condition of the lawns in Georgetowne. As you may know, August set record highs in the temperature with little or no rainfall. When the dry conditions are at an all time high, the chinch bugs will be attracted to the dry areas.

As preventative measures, Guardian Pest Management will be out on the property for an additional treatment to the lawns for chinch bugs and other nuisance pests. In the meantime, the Board is requesting owners check their lawns for dry areas and check the irrigation system to ensure all areas are receiving adequate coverage 

Below is a guide for irrigating the lawn:

High Daytime Temperatures

Also, remember to follow the Saint Johns River Water Management District Guidelines for watering:
 - 2 times per week, before 10 am and after 4 pm.
 - Odd numbered addresses are on Wednesday and Saturday
 - Even numbered addresses on Thursday and Sunday.
